To most traveling and keeping your fitness up to par seems impossible. The key is to be prepared and plan. Yes, it takes effort and you need make it a priority to keep up your fitness.

1.Training

Plan what type of workouts you want to do and when? Check to see if they have a gym at the hotel and what type of equipment they have. No gym? No problem, have your fitness professional design an outdoor workout for you or a body weight routine to hit in your room. Bands are great for this and easy to travel with. You don’t to have a crazy workout just keep the blood flowing and burn some calories. A lower intensity workout isn’t bad and your body will thank you when you get home and start hitting it hard.

Time is usually limited when you travel so, wake up early and get it in! Do a shorter workout with less rest to increase the heart rate and kick start your metabolism for the rest of the day.

2. Nutrition

Food is the key to stay in shape. Weather it’s a business trip or pleasure you’re going to end up eating out. My strategy is to keep my carb intake at a low level when I travel. I usually take pre-made food on my flights to avoid the heavily processed airline line food. If you have to eat out I usually have a steak or piece of fish with veggies.

3. Supplements

This is a time when they really come in handy I always travel with protein powder and protein bars along with my BCAA’s which help suppress my appetite. Take your Immune boosting vitamins with you! Traveling always lowers your immune system so keep it check and take your vitamins and greens.

4. When I travel I usually travel for a fitness related project so I always find a good workout partner to motivate me, but sometimes there’s no one around. social media is a great way to find out if there’s a good gym in town and find a good training partner.

At the end of this just tells you to make it a priority to get your workout in and get your nutrition…don’t leave it up to chance because we all know where that will get you!
